Eowyn Ivey’s first book, The Snow Child is the perfect story to read while snuggled under a warm blanket. This is a book I wish I’d written. A little bit of fantasy, a lot of amazing characters, and beautiful prose make this a top pick of mine.
You cannot go wrong with Bernd Heinrich no matter what the season. A great quote from this book, “When you consider life as a whole, intelligence is but a mere bristle on the hog.“ For non-fiction lovers, A Year in the Maine Woods is perfect in every way. Part fantasy, part history,…all amazing. Winter’s Tale by Mark Helprin takes place in a 20th century mythical New York City. At 768 pages, it’s a bit of a commitment, but delivers a strange and wonderful read for long winter nights.
